ABOUT MY STUDIO

Welcome to beth's woodwind studio.  My name is Beth Edgar and I have been a private woodwind instructor in south Jefferson County for sixteen years.  I teach students from elementary through high school, and adults, who play clarinet.  We meet weekly in my studio for a half hour or an hour lesson.  While working one on one with students, I use additional material and techniques that increase each student's success, not only in their daily musical life at school but in extra curricular activities.  These extra curricular activities include, All County auditions, All State auditions, Honor Bands and Solo & Ensemble contests that are hosted yearly throughout our county and state. I hold a yearly recital that offers students more performance opportunities as a soloist or in an ensemble (see student events).  It has been my pleasure to watch a majority of my students perform with these different groups year after year.

When you arrive in my studio you can expect me to assess your student's needs and offer many tools to help them improve their skills.  I believe in challenging my students with interesting literature while making their learning fun and rewarding.  I share literature with my students to help keep their practice time fresh and the cost to parents low.  Each week my students leave with assignments they return with the following week for us to work on.  I expect my students to practice this material and I offer the ways and means in which they should practice.  In building a solid rapport with my students our lesson time creates a positive environment for them to succeed.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in offering my students a love and appreciation of music that lasts a lifetime.

ABOUT ME

Music is a large part of my life not only through teaching but as a performer.  I was a longtime member of The Lakewood Symphony, formed The Claritones (a clarinet quartet), performed with Orion Winds for five years and have appeared with The Denver Philharmonic and The Littleton Symphony .  I have been invited to lead clarinet sectionals at schools in the Metro area and volunteer my time at elementary schools to do "show & tell" of woodwind instruments to incoming band students.  I continue my studies with Mr. Bil Jackson, the principal clarinetist of the Colorado Symphony and professor of clarinet at the University of Northern Colorado
